An ode to slowing down.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned this year is the power of what can happen when you take your foot off the gas. |
|
|
|
Over the summer, I hit a wall.
I've always been good at the hustle.
Especially when I care about my work - it's one of my superpowers.
In July, I noticed things were stalling out in my business. So, I leaned in to my instinct... work harder, do more.
I pushed and pushed, and while the needle moved a little, it wasn't proportional to the effort.
I was frustrated. My mind felt over-occupied. Everything started to feel heavy.
I was doing everything I could think of to grow my business... except one thing.
Easing up on the effort. |

"Trust the process"
Yeah yeah- the motivational posters love that one π What is that even supposed to mean?
In August (with some trepidation), I stopped trying so hard and decided to create the space to slow down.
I signed up for an art class. I walked instead of ran. I cleared my schedule and invested in a weekend coaching retreat with money I didn't technically have.
I asked for support in personal ways I never have before.
By the end of September, I could feel the shift.
In the space that was created, something else moved in.
Clients started stepping forward, opportunities appeared, and I had the capacity to say "yes" to things that once felt impossible. |

|
Here's what that season taught me:
Slowing down isn't quitting.
It isn't giving up.
And it's not being lazy.
Sometimes it's the most aligned move we can make.
Trusting the process, for me, now means this: Our effort doesn't always equal our progress.
And sometimes, our growth needs open space to thrive and reach new heights. π±

Anyone else out there have a hot mess of a recipe book?
In this pile of random handwritten, printed, and magazine cutout recipes are some real gems.
Family fish recipes from Alaska, top secret notes on my famous pimento cheese, and enough cookies to satisfy the Cookie Monster.
I was lucky enough to learn the creative art of cooking from my parents and it's become a type of love language for me. |

Where in your life are you performing?
In the spirit of
You donβt have to finish strong
I feel called to name something real Iβm seeing a lot of my lovely, high-achieving clients struggle with right now.
The quiet pressure to perform.
To put on a mask.
To be the person you think other people want you to be.
Hereβs the thing:
The world is more beautiful because of your uniqueness.
|
|
|
|
And I say this with a lot of love... It takes an incredible amount of energy to hide your authenticity.
As we close out the year and show up for holiday traditions... I want to offer a gentle challenge:
π Where could you drop the act, even a little?
π What might shift if you let yourself be a little more you? |

Moving forward
Yes - 2026 is just a few weeks away. And in full transparency, Iβm not a big fan of New Yearβs resolutions.
"Geez! Some coach you are, Abby!β π
I know. Iβll own it.
Hereβs why: I struggle with the pop-culture commercialization that swoops in at the start of every year, promising transformation if you just buy the right thing, follow the right plan, or become someone else entirely.
Way too often, it sets people up for a dramatic crash- leaving them feeling defeated, disconnected, and right back where they started by the following January.
Ouch. If that stung, please know this comes from a place of advocacy π
Advocacy for you. And your power to create the life you want
whenever you damn well choose.

|
|
|
If youβre still reading, maybe this is resonating.
And maybe this January is your moment.
Your time to reinvent yourself, take a leap, dream bigger, or step into a new version of you. Amazing! Go get it! I respect the hell out of that.
My message is simply this:
I believe in you.
Any day. Any season.
Any moment you decide to begin.
You donβt have to wait for January 1.
