Real-life reflections on growth, creativity, and staying grounded.

Hey friend,

Welcome to the first edition of Rooted!

This is where I show up (semi-regularly) with real talk from my life and work- just honest reflections, mindset nuggets, and bits of creative inspiration.Β

Think of it like a little bit of sunlight in your inbox, or a welcome pause in your busy day.

Let’s get into it…

So... why Rooted ?

I picked Rooted because,Β honestly, it’s what I keep coming back to in my own life:Β

(and I love plants 🌱)

When the world feels chaotic and out of control, I want to feel grounded.

Fun fact: after a heavy coaching session - or doing something that scares the hell out of me, like public speaking - I literally lay on the floor. It anchors me.

Our roots aren’t always visible, and they’re vital to our growth.

They hold the stories of where we’ve been and quietly nourish what’s next.
They’re our lifeline - connecting, stabilizing, and reminding us that strength and growth start below the surface.
When our roots are strong and tended to, the rest of us can regenerate, grow, and thrive.

It's where I find creative flow.

When connected & rooted in my unique spirit, ideas come more easily. I feel more like me and remember what I care about.

My hope is that something here helps you feel grounded in your own way - steady, real, and rooted in who you are. 🌿

When is the last time you did something creative?Β

Last week I picked up the paintbrush for the first time in a while and it felt so good!

Did you know... there is some compelling evidence that creating art (at any skill level) can:

🌟 Help regulate the nervous system

🌟 Reduce stress hormones

🌟 Support our mental resilience & ability to solve problems

Our creative efforts don't just make the world more beautiful, it literally can improve your health!

I've worked with a few clients who have had a regular creative practice and let me be honest...Β

It absolutely adds fuel to our coaching work.

Here's what I've found:

🔹 Art supports expression of thoughts, emotions, and feelings that may not otherwise have a chance to be communicated 🙌

🔹 A blank canvas is the perfect playground to practice failure and being imperfect 😜

🔹 Your inner critic has nowhere to hide and you get to face it often 😈

🔹 In creation, there is ultimate freedom to be yourself 🎨

🔹 The more you do it, the better you get, and that feels SO rewarding! Confidence 🚀Β

My clients that had this practice in their tool box absolutely kicked ass at what they wanted to accomplish in coaching (and are still kicking ass).Β

GratitudeΒ

It's November and inevitably, you are going to be asked this question at some point in the next few weeks.... so allow me to be the first:Β

What are you grateful for?

Bonus challenge: Drop the bullshit.Β

Instead of answering with something you think someone else wants to hear...

Make it real. Make it come fromΒ your truth 😉

-------------------------

Abby... you go first -Β

Agh, there are a thousand things... ultimately I settle on being grateful for my awesome husband.Β

It's his birthday in a few days and if you know Andrew, you know he's a human to be celebrated.Β

(Photo above is evidence of how we throw down for Andrew 🙌)

A few years ago, he bought me a gravel bike for his birthday.Β

You read that right... I got a bike for his birthday.

So we can ride together in the woods. That's what we plan on doing to celebrate this year.Β

SO much gratitude for this man and all that he brings to my life 😍
